I am continuing my ultimate guide to savannah with all the places you should stop along the way to the restaurants and drinks mentioned in my first two posts ( Places to Eat & Places to drink). While your stay and eating in Savannah will cost you, one thing I love about this city is there are a lot of places you can go that are relatively cheap or no cost at all! I hope that you find this guide useful for those must-see sights, but note that in no way is this all Savannah has to offer. It is a place where just exploring can lead you to some pretty cool finds; the last time Cory and I went, we walked off the beaten path a bit and found a cool antique shop to browse in. There really are places around every corner.
Forsyth Park

This park is my first pick because for me it holds a very special place in my heart since Cory ask me out here. Though that is not the only reason I have enjoyed going back to this park. The walk down the long paths, surrounded by full over arching trees is beautiful. Heading here takes you out of the busyness from River Street and downtown areas into more of a neighborhood setting with historic homes along the entire perimeter. Not only is this a good place to come see the notable fountain, but also a great kids spot as well. Like your average park there are areas to play, but there are water features that kids can splash around in too. Don't have kids, or didn't bring them along?Even with all those families around, it still remains very peaceful. Something I would note is that while it is a tourist attraction, it is for the community as well. When you go to savannah you may consider what events they are having at the park, I know they do farmer's markets and concerts, so you can add those activities as part of your trip.
Ghost Tours
I mentioned this is a previous post, but one thing that savannah is known for is supernatural activity. While you might want to opt for one of the regular trolly tours that they have around the city, I reccomend going on a ghost tour. You still get to see the entire city and learn a lot, but there is that added element of spooky. If you type in "Savannah Ghost Tour" into google, you will get ALOT of results, but the one that I went with was Ghost and Graveyards from Savannah Trolly tour ($33 for adults, $16 for Children). The reason I picked this one above the rest was that it was a combination of walking and riding the trolly. I had my best friend coming into town and wanted her to experience the trolly ride on top of a ghost tour, so this was absolutely perfect. We got to ride around in the trolly as the guide pointed out different supernatural locations, plus go into two sights. I really enjoyed this tour because there was never a lull, you were getting your moneys worth. With that being said, there are those other places that hold tours as well, that you might be interested in checking out, or even checking out a couple. There are your basic tours around town, but they do mix fun ones in there at other tour sites like haunted bar crawl, midnight in the graveyard, and one where you can ride in a hearse (whatever floats your boat).
Wormsloe Historic Sight
Before I even moved to Georgia, this was the place that I had in my mind of what Georgia would look life. The long stretch of dirt road, with big oak trees and Spanish moss hanging. You might see other places around Georgia similar, but nothing compares to this sight. There are some tour options that you can do for this place, but I recommend doing a self guided tour Meaning your visit would be 100% free! They have a brochure you can pick up in the front office that will tell you some history facts, but they also have signs accompanying many other highlights. I did try to dress cute for some of these pictures, but bring a change of shoes like I did if you want to fully explore because the front of this beautiful plantation is not all it has to offer. We were able to take a trail (note there is a longer one if you want to go on a hike) that led to old rumble from buildings that once stood there, and a pier overlooking a large marsh. Another added fact about this place was that is was a filming location for the movie Last Song.
Tybee Island
Tybee Island is located a little outside of Savannah, but I wanted to include this as a place to look into or add to your trip. It is included in a category of sea islands along the coast of Georgia and South Carolina, so can be included if you are taking a trip to Hilton Head or along the coast as well. I know for some people coming to Georgia they might not be looking for what Savannah has to offer. Perhaps you are coming more so for the sunshine and coastal feel, rather than the historical city feel. This spot is the perfect coastal get away. I still need to venture more into Tybee island, but from trips I have already taken found some cool places to check out. The drive to get there again is not to long in relations to Savannah, but and you can tell that you are completely leaving that city vibe. Once at Tybee you are surrounded by many enticing sea food and costal restaurants, so pick one, ideally along the beach and belly up to the bar. Besides the beach going activities, they also give tours of their lighthouse along with their sea side history museum, all of which are very interesting and I think adds to the experience. It is cool seeing the history of such a sea side town, for example they have original pirate flags and scuba gear. As an added bonus this is the second location on this list that was a filming location for The Last Song, if that floats your boat, but they also have a lot of events going on especially during summer weekend that can be an added bonus to your trip too.
